I. Educational Objectives

This major is aimed at cultivating engineers who will meet the needs of social and economic development and work in the first production line of industry in the field of machine-electronic engineering and other related fields. After 5-year practice after graduation, they should:

(1)To be able to meet the needs of modern technological development of machine-electronic engineering and solve complex problems in mechatronic areas systematically by applying the math & natural science knowledge, engineering knowledge as well as modern science tools.

(2)To be able to undertake the development, design, manufacturing, service and management work of automation, intelligent equipment and mechanical and electrical type products with consideration of comprehensive influence of environment, sustainable development factors as well as the society.

(3)To have a sense of social responsibility, understand and stick to the code of professional ethics, and have a team spirit and favorable communication skills.

(4)To have the international view, innovation consciousness and lifetime studying ability.

(5)To develop into young technical backbones as competent registered engineers, and have advantages in national defense industry, equipment manufacturing industry in the middle and west part of China and middle and small-sized enterprises.

II. Program Outcomes

(1)To own engineering Knowledge: Students will be able to solve the complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering by use of the mathematics, natural science, engineering foundation and specialized knowledge.

(2)To analyze problems: Students will be able to identify, express and analyze the complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering through the document research and analysis by utilization of the fundamental principle of mathematics, natural science as well as engineering science so as to obtain effective conclusions.

(3)To be capable of solution design and development: Students will be able to design specific solutions to the complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering, design the mechanical system, test system, servo control system, etc. to meet the specific needs, and embody the innovation consciousness in design processes as well as consider the social, health, safety, legislation, cultural and environmental factors.

(4)To do research: Students will be able to research the complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering by utilization of scientific methods according to scientific principles, including the design of experiment, analysis and interpretation of data, and obtain the reasonable and effective conclusions through information integration.

(5)To use modern tools: Students will be able to develop, select and use appropriate technologies, resources, modern engineering tools and information technology tools to solve the complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering, including the prediction and simulation of complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering and understand its limitations.

(6)To understand engineering and society: Students will be able to make reasonable analysis with related mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, evaluate the impact of solutions to professional engineering practice problems and mechatronic systems engineering problems on society, health, safety, legislation and culture, and understand their responsibility.

(7)To be aware of environment and sustainable development: Students will be able to understand and evaluate the impact of engineering practices of complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering on the environment and social sustainable development.

(8)To make clear professional norms: Students will have the humanities and social science literacy, social responsibility, and understand and comply with the engineering professional integrity and standards as well as fulfill the responsibility.

(9)To coordinate relations of individuals and teams: Students will be able to play roles of individuals, team members and persons in charge in multidisciplinary background.

(10)To communicate: Students will be able to make effective communications and exchanges specific to complex problems of mechatronic systems engineering with industry peers, including writing the report, designing the document, making statement, expressing or responding to commands clearly. Besides, they shall have a certain international vision and be able to make communications and exchanges under the cross-cultural background.

(11)To manage project: Students will be able to understand and master the principle of project management and economic decision methods that can be applied in multidisciplinary environment.

(12)To have lifelong learning awareness: Students will have a sense of self-directed learning and lifelong learning and continuous learning ability as well as adoption ability to development.

A bachelor degree requires 180,including:

94credits of required courses, 41credits of elective courses, 45credits of comprehensive practice.

Extracurricular activities:7 credits of innovation and skills.

The student who achieves the total credits and extracurricular activities will be awarded an undergraduate diploma.
